Press Release: University of Northern Colorado Athletics Department Selects the Smart Button Solution

Smart Button is pleased to announce that the University of Northern Colorado Athletics Department will implement the company’s fan loyalty solution, SportTrak. SportTrak is a hosted, web-based fan loyalty and rewards system that connects sports teams with their fans by providing teams with the marketing tools needed to gather information on their fans, communicate with their fans and deliver value to their fans.

UNC plans to use SportTrak to implement and support a fan loyalty program for their football and men’s and women’s basketball teams. Created with the intention of acknowledging and thanking fans for their support of the UNC Bears, the "Bear Fanatics" fan loyalty program will be employed this 2004 season. In the future, UNC hopes to utilize Bear Fanatics to promote other sports as well.

According to Dave Stutman, Manager of External Affairs, "A fan loyalty program like Bear Fanatics will help to create the fan support needed during this transition to Division I."

Since the UNC Bears are currently in the process of moving to Division I, SportTrak and "Bear Fanatics" will help the athletic department improve fan relationships, boost fan support and increase revenue during this transition period. Presently a part of the new Great West Football Conference, UNC football will be playing UC Davis, Cal Poly, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Southern Utah this season. With a .500 record or better in 16 of the past 17 seasons, the UNC Bears face their most challenging season and will need plenty of fan encouragement. UNC Basketball also faces a challenging transition season, playing 25 of their games against Division I teams.
