Since 1962, KOA has symbolized a clean, safe, family-friendly campsite. KOA used Smart Button to help develop a program to make its 475 locations a top-of-mind option for campers. In addition to offering customers a simple discount card program, a common practice in the camping industry, KOA then became the first camping provider to offer additional reward points to campers.

Value Kard Rewards tracked point earnings for every stay at a KOA campground. After achieving milestone point levels, members had the opportunity to redeem their points for valuable savings. To incentivize campers to become members, exclusive savings on campground registration fees and offers from related travel and leisure partners were also built into the package. Smart Button’s web-based technology added additional convenience for members – allowing online account access and tracking any time.

KOA was able to create a simple, but powerful loyalty program using Smart Button. In its first year, the Value Kard Rewards Program saved members nearly one million dollars, and certainly helped make campers choose a KOA campground over another outdoor overnight destination.
